Healthy Food for Denver: Youth Food Access & Farm-to-Food Pantry.”

November 16, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Ever wonder what’s happened to the money from sales tax increases Denver has voted for? Answer that question for one of them on Monday, November 16, when the League of Women Voters of Denver presents a Zoom briefing: “Healthy Food for Denver: Youth Food Access & Farm-to-Food Pantry.” Denver passed the HFDK Initiative (Healthy Food for Denver Kids) in 2018. HFDK established a sales tax increase of 0.08% to help feed kids in Denver who don’t have enough to eat. This amounts to less than a penny per $10 spent and added up to about $11 million in 2019. Lauren Howe, program administrator for HFDK in the Denver Department of Public Health & Environment, and Ashley Wheeland, MA, JD, the director of public policy at Hunger Free Colorado, will explain how the HFDK initiative is being applied to solving hunger issues for children in Denver. The program will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the 16th.Go to lwvdenver.org for the zoom link.
