Sloan’s Lake Putt-Putt Bar Crawl
June 3, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
The Sloan’s Lake Park Foundation is on a mission to #SaveSloansLake. The jewel of North Denver is losing the very asset it needs to stay afloat, water. With an average depth of 3 feet versus 18 feet in the not-so-distant past, the foundation works with Denver Parks & Recs, District 1 City Councilwoman Amanda Sandoval, water engineers, community leaders, and citizens to raise funds and awareness of its cause.
Enter, The Sloan’s Lake Wide Open, a putt-putt bar crawl on Saturday, June 3 from 12-5PM. The event is meant to put the swing in fundraising for the lake’s preservation. “Greens Fees’ for the six-hole round is $30 per golfer when signing up alone, $55 for a twosome, and $100 for a foursome. All proceeds support Sloan’s Lake Park Foundation and its mission.
All golfers will receive a gift bag including a commemorative Sloan’s Lake Wide Open golf ball. Putters are available on-site at each bar so there is no need to bring your own, but you are certainly welcome to do so. Check-in begins at noon at The Patio, 4032 W. 17th Avenue.
The shotgun-style tournament includes holes at six local bars and restaurants around the south side of Sloan’s Lake including Side Pony, Barfly, Vatos Tequila & Tacos, Sloan’s Tap & Burger, Odell Brewing, and the Patio. Each will host holes, specialty cocktails, and tasty treats during the progressive round.
Dressing up in silly, throwback golf costumes a’la “Caddyshack” is highly encouraged. Think knickerbockers, argyle socks, sweater vests, plaid pants, knee highs, and visors to get in the kooky putt-putt spirit.
A 19th-hole after-party will be at The Patio and Odell Brewing at 5PM where raffle prizes, giveaways, best golf outfit, and lowest score awards will be presented.
Kurt Weaver, the master advocate and event director for the Sloan’s Lake Park Foundation says, “Join us for the most fun bar crawl and putt putt tournament you will ever play to benefit saving Sloan’s Lake. All proceeds for the event support our work and mission to restore Sloan’s Lake to its former glory and make it the gem of Denver once again.”
