Science Sunday at Regis

March 22, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The entire family will find something to engage their interest at the fifth-annualScience Sunday held 1 to 4 p.m., March 22, at Regis University’s Northwest Denver Campus.
The free event will fill the Pomponio Science Building with hands-on activities geared toward
elementary and middle-school students.
“The secret is out! Science Sunday is an event that our community looks forward to every year,”
said event organizer Fred Gray, a professor of physics and astronomy. “The stars of our event are
the Regis college students, who run all the STEM activities. They get our visitors excited about
learning science and kids walk away with memorable learning experiences.”
The many science stations are planned to engage children in neuroscience, biology, astronomy,
chemistry and physics. For example, kids will learn about the planets while making solar-system
bracelets, learn about the five senses in the neuroscience department, and forces and collisions in
the physics lab.
Kids will have a “STEM passport” to fill out and exchange for a free drawstring bag, filled with
goodies (while supplies last).
Weather permitting, telescopes will be placed on the campus’ Boettcher Commons for observing
the sun through safety filters.
Stop by the “Ask a Scientist” booth and chat with Regis faculty about particle physics, genetics,
chemical reactions, black holes and more.
Science Sunday is supported by the University’s Regis College, its College of Computer and
Information Sciences, the Marketing and Communications department and several campus
student groups.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math.
Established in 1877, Regis University is a premier, globally engaged institution of higher learning
in the Jesuit Catholic tradition that prepares leaders to live productive lives of faith, meaning and
service. One of 27 Jesuit universities in the nation, Regis has four campus locations in the Denver
metro area and Colorado Springs and extensive online program offerings with more than 8,000
enrolled students. For more information, visit www.regis.edu.
